Luna Bronze: Your No-Stress Guide to a Sunless Glow

Let's be honest. We all love the look of sun-kissed skin, but none of us love what the actual sun does to it. The dryness, the freckles that turn into something you'd rather not think about, the premature aging. I gave up baking in it years ago, and I have not looked back.

That's the whole reason I fell for Luna Bronze. It gives you that lit-from-within, just-back-from-vacation glow without a single minute of UV damage. And because the whole line is skin-care first, you're actually feeding your skin while you build colour, not drying it out. No streaks, no orange, no weird smell. Just believable, golden, your-skin-but-better.

Here's the part I love most: it's made to be easy. Whether you've never touched a self tanner in your life or you've got a full routine down, there's a Luna Bronze product that fits.

Which Luna Bronze self tanner is right for me?

Quick answer: if you're new to tanning or want something low-effort, start with a gradual tanning moisturizer that builds slowly over a few days. If you want richer, faster colour you can control, reach for the jelly! Below I'll walk you through each one so you can find your perfect match.

Glow Gradual Tanning Moisturizer (Light to Medium)

Who's it for: Anybody who wants to build an all-over body glow slowly and on their own terms.

This is my go-to reccomendation for tanning newbies, and I mean that with love. Because it builds gradually, you're in complete control. You can stop at the faintest hint of warmth or keep layering for something deeper, and there's basically no way to overshoot it.

What makes it easy to love:

  • Perfect for very light skin tones who want to ease into colour instead of commiting all at once.
  • Doubles as a daily moisturizer, so your skin stays hydrated while it tans (this is why the colour reads so natural instead of sitting on top of dry patches)
  • Genuinely easy to apply, buildable and blendable, no mitt required.
  • A great way to top up and maintain colour between other self tan applications.

If you've ever been burned by a self-tanner that went too streaky or too dark too fast, this is where I'd start you.

Glow Gradual Tanning Moisturizer (Medium to Dark)

Who's it for: Anyone who loves the easy, build-it-daily approach but wants a deeper everyday bronze.

This is the bronz-ier sequel to Luna Bronze's best-seller Glow Moisturizer. Same skincare-first, daily-use formula you apply like a body lotion, just dialled up to a richer medium glow. So it's still a gradual tanner (you build it day by day), it simply lands on a deeper tone than the Light to Medium does.

What makes it easy to love:

  • A warmer, sun-kissed medium bronze, never orange.
  • Hydrating, non-sticky texture that melts in like body cream (organic shea butter, grape seed oil)
  • No mitt, no rinising, no exfoliation between uses, just apply, nourish and glow
  • Doubles as a daily top-up to extend a deeper tan, exactly like the Light to Medium.

If you've tried the Light to Medium and it felt a touch too subtle, give this one a try.

Self Tanning Jelly

Who it's for: Anyone who wants colour faster than a gradual, with a fresh, lightweight feel.

The Self Tanning Jelly is being slept on. This lilac-tinted clear gel glides on, aborbs without feeling sticky or smelly, and develops into a juicy medium bronze in about 4-6 hours. So if a gradual moistuizer feels too slow but a moose feels like too much, this is your happy middle.

What makes it easy to love:

  • Fast-acting: a medium bronze in roughly 4-6 hours.
  • Lightweight, non-sticky gel that aborbs quickly (no waiting around feeling all tacky).
  • Buildable and easy to blend evenly, so few streaks and patchy spots.
  • Not mitt needed, skin-care focused like the Gradual Glow line.

A few self tanning tips

Because like hair care, the product is only half the story!

  • Prep First. Exfoliate and shave the day before, not right before. Smooth, clean skin is what makes a tan look even.
  • Go light on the dry zones. Elbows, knees, ankles hands and feet drink up colour fast. Use whatever's left on your hands rather than applying full product there.
  • Buff the tricky spots with a blending brush. A dry blending brush is your secret weapon for your elbows, hands, knuckles, ankles and feet. After you apply, lightly buff thos areas in a circluar motions to sweep away excess and often any harsh edges. This is the step that takes a tan from "obviously applied" to "looks real".
  • Moisturize to make it last. A daily body lotion (or gradiual tanner) keeps your colour fading evenly instead of going patchy.
  • When in doubt, build slowly. You can always add more, but getting rid of it is harder.
