Description

Kérastase Première Bain Décalcifiant Réparateur is a rich, double-action shampoo that cleanses hair while breaking down the calcium buildup that hard water leaves behind. Over time, that buildup weakens the fibre, dulls colour, and makes hair feel rough or brittle, so this shampoo works from the inside out to strengthen and repair damaged hair with every wash. The 500ml bottle plus 500ml refill pouch is made for regulars, so you can restock the shampoo you already know works with less packaging.

How to Use

Apply to wet hair, ideally layered on top of the Première – Concentré Décalcifiant

Massage and emulsify.

Rinse thoroughly and proceed to your second shampoo. You can use the Première Bain Décalcifiant Réparateur Shampoo again, or pair it with your other favourite shampoo!

Follow with the Prèmiere Fondant or Prèmiere Mask.

Is it right for me?

  • Best for: Anyone who already relies on the Bain Décalcifiant Réparateur, washes with hard water and wants to keep buildup in check, and wants better value, less packaging waste, and never to run out.
  • Skip if: You're trying the shampoo for the first time; start with a single bottle before committing to the large refill duo.
  • Frequency: Use it exactly as you would on its own, every wash or as needed. Massage into wet hair, emulsify, rinse, then follow with conditioner or mask.

Active Ingredients

Glycine

The smallest, simplest amino acid and a key building block of keratin, the protein your hair is made of. Small enough to penetrate deep into the fibre, it helps reconnect the broken keratin links left behind by damage, reinforcing hair from within so it feels stronger, smoother, and less prone to split ends.

Citric Acid

The decalcifying half of the repair story. Hard water leaves behind calcium and minerals that build up on hair, making it stiff, dull, and more likely to break. Citric acid dissolves and rinses that buildup away while smoothing the cuticle, so hair feels lighter and softer, looks shinier, and is better protected against breakage.

Why the problem exists

Ever feel like your hair is rough, stiff, and breaking for no reason you can pin down, even with a good routine? The culprit is often your shower water. Most tap water is hard, meaning it's full of calcium, and just like the chalky limescale on your faucet, that calcium collects on your hair a little more with every wash, stiffening each strand until it turns dull, brittle, and quick to snap. Because it builds back up over time, decalcifying is an ongoing job, not a one-time fix, so running out mid-routine means the buildup creeps back.

Why this product solves it

This is a sulphate-free repair shampoo built to undo that buildup. A concentrated blend of pure acids, led by citric acid, gently dissolves the calcium off your hair as you wash, while glycine and a repairing protein slip into the fibre to rebuild strength where the stiffness left it weak, all without stripping your hair. The duo keeps you stocked: a large 500ml bottle plus a matching 500ml refill, made with recycled materials, so you get the same results with less packaging waste and better value than buying two separate bottles.

What to expect over time

From the first wash, hair feels softer, smoother, and more flexible, with that stiff calcium coating gone. The brand measures up to 99% stronger, 93% less breakage, and twice as smooth, and when used as the full Première system, it reverses up to 96% of hair damage in a single use. With the refill on hand, you can keep the decalcifying routine going without a gap, so hair that used to feel stiff and brittle stays supple and strong wash after wash.
