What is a day in the life for you Rachelle!?
Oh Jeez, how long do you have? Haha JK, JK, depends what day of the week! I start most mornings at 6am (sometimes earlier) with a cup of tea while I catch up on some e-mails . If it’s not a shoot day with Team Jilly I’ll edit until 9am when I head into the office. Some people may not know that my family owns a house design firm and I’ve been their Office Manager for 7 years! Once I get home from Jilly’s or the office I’ll jump back into editing mode until I feel I should hit the hay!
Do you have a moment you captured that is your absolute favourite?
I photographed a wedding in Banff a few years ago for the most beautiful couple. The bride was then pregnant with their second child. During the speeches, the couple’s son along side the bride’s sister stood up to make their speech which ended up being the greatest gender reveal of all time. They lugged out a big box and set it in front of everyone and opened it. A ton of PINK balloons came spilling out and the entire room erupted with so much emotion. I actually have chills right now just thinking about it. I felt so honoured to be there and to be able to capture such a precious moment. I cried like a baby…

Who is a photographer you look up to? Do they have an IG?
100%!! I’ve always looked up to Royce Sihlis. I have to mention Nicole Sihlis too because they’re the ultimate wedding power couple! @roycesihlisphoto and @createdlovelyevents.
The next project you’re really looking forward to?
I’ve just captured a beautiful home designed by my Dad in the Lakestone Subdivision that will be used as an international cover photo. I’m in the midst of putting together the imagery and I’m SO excited to see it in print.
Did do you always figure on staying Okanagan based?
Family is the most important thing in my life. My parents and younger bro still live in Kelowna so I’m not currently feeling a draw to leave. Kelowna really has it all for me and I’m meeting the COOLEST people doing what I’m doing now…..if it ain’t broke don’t fix it????
What does your hair say about you?
I’m busy….. HAH. Nicole had to save me a couple weeks back because I attempted cutting my hair on my own. It was bad you guys…I now know to make time for myself and lean on others to help me!!!! Thanks again Nicole.
Fave thing about working with the Pomme Beauty Brand?
Where do I start?? Nicole’s energy is something else. I love that she is a self starter and a busy entrepreneur. Hanging out with her always makes me feel understood and empowered. She makes me feel like a high kick can solve anything and a glass of wine is always welcome.
